BPL Medical Technologies has acquired South Korea-based Yozma BMtech Co., Ltd., a specialist in bone mineral density diagnostic solutions, in a bid to strengthen its imaging and preventive diagnostics portfolio, particularly in bone health and women’s health. Following the deal, BPL has rolled out BMtech’s advanced bone mineral density measuring systems in India and Dubai to expand access to early screening and monitoring for osteoporosis and other bone-related conditions.

The newly introduced systems offer high-speed scanning with high-resolution imaging while using low-radiation exposure to enhance patient safety. They incorporate fan-beam technology with multi-channel detectors that are designed to measure bone density accurately across multiple anatomical sites, and some models support whole-body bone densitometry and body composition analysis to enable broader preventive health assessments. The machines are also built with a compact footprint so they can be installed in space-constrained hospitals and diagnostic centres, which could improve access to bone health screening in urban facilities and smaller centres alike.

BPL MedTech said the launch responds to rising demand for preventive diagnostics driven by ageing populations, a growing prevalence of osteoporosis and increasing lifestyle-related risk factors. The integration of BMtech’s technology is expected to reinforce BPL’s capabilities in imaging and diagnostics, with a particular focus on the women’s health segment, where bone density assessment is critical for managing post-menopausal health risks.

“This acquisition represents a significant step in strengthening our preventive healthcare and diagnostics portfolio. Bone health, particularly among women and ageing populations, requires greater focus on early detection and monitoring,” said Shravan Subramanyam, managing director, BPL Medical Technologies. “By bringing advanced bone mineral density technology to key markets, we aim to improve access to reliable screening solutions and support better clinical outcomes,” he added.

The company expects the acquisition to accelerate innovation in imaging and diagnostics by combining BMtech’s specialised bone mineral density technology with BPL’s manufacturing, distribution and clinical expertise. It also aims to bolster BPL’s presence in international markets, signalling a wider push to position the firm as a key player in preventive diagnostics at a time when health systems and patients are increasingly prioritising early detection of chronic and degenerative conditions.
